In 2012 the organizers of the Big Olney Food Festival approached MKlele (the ukulele club based at The Stables in Milton Keynes) and asked if they would perform a few songs at BOFF that year. A selection of members from the club took up the challenge and performed under the club name but, after that first gig, the nucleus of 4String developed under its own banner.
News of a fun ukulele band spread quickly, and 4String soon had a growing list of gigs, including:
Two further gigs at BOFF, Folk On The Green (Stony Stratford)
Wellingborough Beer Festival, Radlett Classic Car Show
Stony Live, Music In The Marquee (Bromham)
Bedford River Festival and Bromham Millfest,
many of which resulted in repeat bookings. The band have also played a wide range of other gigs at pubs, festivals and private functions around Bedford and Milton Keynes.
4String also produced ‘Woodland Tracks’ – a 6-track mini album, which is available on the Music page of this website.
Despite the inevitable personnel changes over the years (reflected in the Gallery on this website), the band has gone from strength to strength, and now performs as a 4-piece ( Barry, Jon, Sandy, & Tom).
